Yet again, over 3,500 people shelled out the $215 entry to compete in this week's 500k Guarantee on PokerStars. With 3,511 entrants in all, the prize pool was a staggering $702,200. With first place scheduled to pay out an impressive $140,440, the following nine players battled their way through the field to reach the final table, and all had a shot at that huge first place money (chip counts in parenthesis):
Seat 1: SheFaLLs (325,075)
Seat 2: suckoutqueen (1,195,034)
Seat 3: sss_gogeta (2,007,405)
Seat 4: stivolino (642,720)
Seat 5: lasbas (308,538)
Seat 6: lintje (410,156)
Seat 7: stglobe (561,338)
Seat 8: dragonlady7 (1,515,634)
Seat 9: RawDeal55 (1,811,600)
The blinds were at 25,000-50,000 with a 2,500 chip ante when play began. It didn’t take long for the action to get under way, either.
lasbas opened the third pot for the whole enchilada, all 251,038 of his remaining chips. Right behind him, lintje moved all-in over the top for 402,656 total. No one else wanted to tangle, and lintje’s pocket aces snapped lasbas to the felt, when his K9 off-suit didn’t connect.
stglobe took the same approach to his final hand, pushing in from under the gun for a total of 765,088, holding AQ off-suit. sss_gogeta called the bet, and his pocket kings sent stglobe to the rail.
This was in the span of the first six hands! It was full-throttle for the next few pots, as well.
Just five pots later, with the blinds at 30,000-60,000 with a 3,000 chip ante, SheFaLLs went all-in for their remaining 241,075 chips. sss_gogeta felted them when sss_gogeta’s pocket eights held up against their sixes. On the very next hand, suckoutqueen was so ironically sent packing by RawDeal. suckoutqueen smooth-called with aces pre-flop and got all-in on the flop against RawDeal’s set of queens.
stivolino called all-in against sss_gogeta’s opening all-in bet in the very next pot. He lost with KJ of hearts when sss_gogeta paired up aces with A6 off-suit.
Yet again in the very next deal, the action got moving again. lintje moved in over the top of sss_gogeta’s opening bet, which prompted dragonlady7 to move all-in over the top of that bet. ss_gogeta let it go, and dragonlady7’s AK of clubs took out the KT of diamonds of lintje.
After a chip-count calculation was given by PokerStars manager Lee Jones, the players agreed to the following split of the money, with $10,000 withheld for the eventual winner:
dragonlady7: $87,008 RawDeal55: 87,382 sss_gogeta: 92,979
Play was a little passive after that, as the players held the following chip counts, now that the dust settled:
Seat 3: sss_gogeta (3,235,288) Seat 8: dragonlady7 (2,756,078) Seat 9: RawDeal55 (2,786,134)
With big stacks and 30,000-60,000/3,000 blinds, the action was timid and the swings were minimal. They traded small and medium pots, until sss_gogeta called all-in on an Ad 7d Th board. He held AQ off-suit against RawDeal55’s Ah Tc. No queen came and we were heads up.
Play was back and forth, with the two remaining players trading the chip lead a few times. Finally, after a total of seven hours and 22 minutes of poker, RawDeal55 called the all-in bet with A6 off-suit, which held up unimproved against the K9 off-suit of dragonlady7.
