A whopping 2,443 people shelled out $215 for the weekly $350k tournament on Pokerstars this Sunday. First prize was over $100k. The final table lined up like this (city and state/country, if known, in parenthesis):
Seat 1 - clove (Douglaston, NY) - 702k
Seat 2 - dblgutshot (Miami Beach, FL) - 1.4 million
Seat 3 - G6Dragon (Oshkosh, WI) - 669k
Seat 4 - L.O.G.I.C.O. (Amsterdam, Netherlands) - 224k
Seat 5 - spiney (Glasgow, England) - 582k
Seat 6 - Joe V3 ( ) - 1.1 million
Seat 7 - Freezang (Mission) - 245k
Seat 8 -arad69 (Regina, CA) - 884k
Seat 9 - The Avatar (Regina, CA) - 281k
Things got started rather quickly. The blinds were $20,000 and $40,000 with a $2,000 ante per person, and weren’t moving up. In middle position, dblgutshot opened for 94k. spiney pushed all-in for 580k and was called. spiney’s AQs made the nut flush, beating dblgutshot’s pocket sevens. spiney doubled up with the massive 1.2 million chip pot.
Freezang would double up when his AK made the nut straight against arad69’s A8, who could only muster a queen high straight. He moved up to 420k and we were still nine-handed.
On a short stack, L.O.G.I.C.O. pushed all-in and was called by G6Dragon’s pocket 2’s in the big blind. The board was no help, and L.O.G.I.C.O. was out in 9th, collecting $6,351.80.
The Avatar would double up soon after when his KQ flopped a pair of kings against Joe V3’s A5. No ace came, and Avatar drags a 647k pot. After that, arad69 would gain back some of the chips he just lost with AK, making a pair of kings against spiney’s pocket 8’s.
Freezang would be eliminated in 8th, when he went all-in with KJ and ran into arad69, who showed AK yet again. He collected $9,772 for 8th.
spiney would take 7th, pushing with KQ. clove made an easy call with AQ, and won the race. spiney took $14,169.40 for 7th.
G6Dragon opened in first position a few hands later. clove pushed his luck and moved in with pocket nines, but they were no match for G6Dragon’s pocket rockets. G6Dragon raked a massive 1 million plus pot and was back in the game.
Joe V3 would be the next to risk it all, pushing in with KTo. clove called and showed pocket 8’s. But Joe connected with a king on the flop and doubled up.
Joe V3 would double up again when he got all of his chips in against The Avatar. The board read A-K-9, with Joe V3’s A9 dominated The Avatar’s KJ. No help came and Joe now had over 1 million chips.
The Avatar would then move all-in with pocket queens. G6Dragon called, but was in bad shape with AQ. The flop was all rags, but G6 caught not one, but two aces on the next two cards. The Avatar took the devastating defeat and won $19,055.40 for his 6th place performance.
The biggest pot of the tournament came down in a 3-way all-in fest. arad69 opened in first position for 16k. clove pushed all-in, and Joe V3 reraised all-in over the top. arad69 hesitated a bit before calling, showing pocket kings. clove held the AQ of diamonds, and Joe V3 was in bad shape with pocket nines. No help came and the kings held up, eliminating clove in 5th place. He took home $23,452.80, and arad69 raked in the 2.8 million pot.
Four-handed, we had our final elimination before a deal was reached. Joe V3 opened the pot with pocket fours and was pot committed when dblgutshot came over the top with eights. The eights held up, and Joe V3 was sent to the rail, $29,316 richer.
The three remaining players reached a chip-count deal very efficiently and quickly. As always, Lee Jones was a class act with helping the players. They all were very friendly and worked together well on the deal. The players then pushed all-in about every pot until they finished the tournament. As the dust cleared, arad69 took the title and the tournament leaderboard points.
